The Editor

The same editor screen is used to edit both templates and active widgets. Whenever this page refers to 'widget' it means 'template or active widget'.

The editor has the following elements:

Main Editor View

The main part of the window is a recreation of how your widget will look on the homescreen. On most devices, the surrounding area will be set the same as the homescreen background (live wallpapers will not be reproduced).

By default, the widget is shown zoomed to make editing easier. Press the Menu key to toggle zooming.

There are three touch modes which are selectable via the touch mode button at the bottom-right and determine the effect of touches in the editor window.

Normal Mode

The default touch mode.

Move Mode

This mode is used purely for positioning elements on the screen. Tap-and-drag to move an element. Click on the arrows around the edge of the window for fine control of the position of the last element which was tapped.

Resize Mode

This mode is used purely for resizing elements on the screen. Tap-and-drag to resize an element. Click on the arrows around the edge of the window for fine control of the size of the last element which was tapped.

Properties Dialog

Shown when the widget is first created, or if you press the wrench/screwdriver icon bottom-right. Allows changing of basic properties like the cell dimensions or widget background.

Zoom Button

Bottom-right, a magnifying glass icon.

By default, the button is lit-up and so the main view is zoomed so that it's easier to move around and resize elements. Click it to toggle between zoom and actual size, where the widget is shown exactly as it will appear on the homescreen.
